Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson was forced to leave Thursday night’s preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens in the first quarter with an apparent hand injury.
The Colts later announced that Richardson would not return to the game. NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reported the issue to be a finger injury on his right hand. Richardson was said to be having difficulty gripping the ball on the Colts’ sideline.
Richardson completed 2 of his first 3 passes for 21 yards before exiting the game. Ravens linebacker David Ojabo came untouched off the right side of the line to sack Richardson on a second-down play. The former Florida quarterback was replaced by Daniel Jones.

The Colts will host Green Bay on Saturday, Aug. 16 and then conclude the preseason a week later on the road against Cincinnati. The regular season begins at home against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 7.
