Legendary rock band Metallica announced on Wednesday, August 6, that they have partnered with SiriusXM for an exclusive Maximum Metallica channel, a year-round music station on Channel 42, and the SiriusXM app that features the music of "one of the most celebrated rock bands of all time."
Founding member Lars Ulrich made the announcement on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday morning.
The station launches Friday, August 29, and to kick things off, the iconic band will give a live performance at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York, on Thursday, August 28.

"SiriusXM is going full throttle with the addition of Maximum Metallica, a new full-time channel dedicated to one of the most celebrated rock bands of all time. The August 28 concert in Amagansett, New York, will be recorded and aired on the band's SiriusXM station on Monday, September 1, at noon ET, and then it will be rebroadcast throughout that week. The concert will also air on Howard Stern's SiriusXM channel Howard 101 on Friday, September 5, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Stephen Talkhouse is an iconic Hamptons music venue that has hosted such legendary acts as Brandi Carlile, Coldplay, Dave Matthews, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, The Killers and Mumford & Sons.
Metallica fans are super excited about both the channel and the intimate concert.

With the launch of their new SiriusXM channel, Metallica joins the ranks of rockers Bruce Springsteen, the Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, The Beatles, Tom Petty, U2, Ozzy Osbourne and more as rock legends with their own dedicated SiriusXM stations.
