Benjamin Sesko has made it clear that he wants to join Manchester United, talkSPORT understands.
The Red Devils have been involved in a battle for the Slovenian’s signature with Premier League rivals Newcastle.
Man United have offered an initial £65.1million plus a further £8.7million in add-ons on Tuesday.
There is now a growing sense of confidence within Manchester United that Sesko will choose them and a deal will get done if the clubs can reach an agreement.
Leipzig are yet to respond to their bid, though, as the tussle to sign the frontman continues.
United’s approach follows a club-record bid from Newcastle worth £70million plus add-ons.
Newcastle on Tuesday offered improved terms and their offer to Leipzig remains the stronger of the two clubs.
They had previously seen an opening offer rejected by the Bundesliga outfit.
Sesko is believed to have agreed financial terms with both Newcastle and Man United.
Newcastle’s Sesko stance
talkSPORT understands Eddie Howe’s side would reluctantly sell Alexander Isak if they land the Slovenian international.
Newcastle turned down a £110million bid from Liverpool for their star centre-forward last week.
Should Sesko head to United then it looks increasingly likely that Isak will stay at St James’ Park.
Newcastle have already submitted a club-record offer for SeskoGetty The Magpies would be willing to sell Isak if they can land the Slovenian internationalGettyIsak returned to training on Monday after missing the club’s pre-season tour of Asia.
The Swede was not included in the travelling party amid speculation surrounding his future.
He put his absence down to a thigh injury as he jetted to Spain to train on his own at former club Real Sociedad.
Isak has three years left on his deal at St. James’ Park and scored 23 Premier League goals last season.
As for Sesko, the 22-year-old joined Leipzig from Austrian side RB Salzburg in 2022.
He has since plundered 39 goals in 87 appearances across all competitions.
However, his goals were not enough to secure European qualification last season as his side finished seventh in the Bundesliga.
United are also without continental competition this term following their 15th place finish.
Newcastle, meanwhile, will return to the Champions League during the upcoming campaign.
The Toon Army finished fifth having also ended their 70-year trophy drought by lifting the Carabao Cup in March.
