A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck near Rialto late Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The temblor hit some 3.7 miles north-northwest of Rialto and about 4 miles north-northeast of Fontana. Its depth was recorded at 2.36 miles, the USGS reported.
Weak to light shaking was reported mostly in the San Bernardino County area, but also in Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange counties, a USGS map showed.
Earthquakes of that magnitude rarely cause damage.
The quake initially was alerted at 3.6 and then reviewed and downgraded.
