The cast of Outlander: Blood of My Blood is getting candid about prepping for their roles in the prequel series — including the “boot camp” they went through.
Series stars Hermione Corfield, Jamie Roy, Harriet Slater and Jeremy Irvine opened up about the intense training they went through while chatting exclusively with Parade ahead of the show’s Friday, Aug. 8, premiere.

“We all met for boot camp before we started where we learned how to do all things Outlander. So ride horses, speak in a Scottish accent,” Scotland native Roy begins, to which Irvine, 35, jokingly adds: “Yours is really good, by the way.”
Roy continues: “Thank you. I’ve been working on it for a while. Since ‘93. Yeah. I think when you're doing all these things together — which can be, you know, pretty tough and hard going and long days — it's really conducive to bonding and getting close. So that definitely, definitely helped, didn’t it?”
Slater, 30, adds: “And I think the fact that we all lived around the corner from each other as well in Glasgow, we were all around each other's houses all the time, hanging out every weekend, which helps, I guess, on set — if you really actually like the people that you're working with.”
A prequel to Outlander, Outlander: Blood of My Blood follows the story of Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) parents Brian Fraser and Ellen Mackenzie as well as Claire Beauchamp's (Caitríona Balfe) parents, Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood premieres Friday, Aug. 8, on STARZ.
