Glenda West Ishak age 84 of Hendersonville departed this life peacefully at 2:10 a.m. Saturday morning August 2, 2025 at her Savely Drive home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral home will be conducted on Saturday August 9th at 1 p.m. Family members will read poems and deliver the eulogies. Burial will follow beside her husband in section five at the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.

    Visitation with the Ishak family will be on Saturday August 9th from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. services.

    A former Smith County Fairest of the Fair, Mrs. Ishak was born Glenda Rosette West in the Kempville Community on May 20, 1941 and was the eldest child and the only daughter of the late well-known Kempville Community merchant, Wirt Auston West, who died at the age of 63 on March 22, 1982 and Lillie Mai Hudson West who died at the age of 78 on April 7, 1999. Her parents were co-owners of the Hudson & West General Store, a beloved fixture in the Kempville Community for many years.

    Also preceding her in death was a brother, U. S. Army Vietnam Veteran, Buddy Anthony West, who died February 26, 2025 eleven days after his 76th birthday.

    She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nazih Mikhall Ishak, to who she was united in marriage in Port Orange, Florida on November 2, 1983 and who preceded her in death on January 22, 2021 at the age of 70. Mr. Ishak, a native of Tripoli in the country of Lebanon, was a retired restauranteur and jeweler.

    Glenda lived with an adventurous and independent spirit. She was employed as a flight attendant for American Airlines, a role that suited her love of travel and discovery. For the last three years of her career as a flight attendant, she was based in New York for overseas flights and commuted from her Florida home to New York.

    Her time in the skies allowed her to explore the world and brought her lifelong stories and experiences that she shared with joy and humor.

    As a child she was a member of the former Hickory Grove United methodist Church in the Kempville Community and after relocating to Hendersonville she was a member of the United Methodist Church there.

    Her kindness, generosity, and sense of adventure touched the lives in some manner, of all who knew her.

    Her legacy of love, loyalty, and resilience lives on in the hearts of her family and everyone who was blessed to have ever been in her presence and were fortunate enough to have known her.

    Surviving is her three devoted children, Michael Ishak and wife Angela (Angie) of Austin, Texas, George Ishak and wife Lora of Ocala, Florida, Laurie Ishak and her partner Allen Hendricks of Hendersonville.

    She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her much joy.

    Also surviving is her brother, Radford West and wife Jan of Lafayette, her cousin Denise Hudson Carter and husband Jimmy Carter of the Tanglewood Community, along with extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
