(KRON) -- The family of missing Fremont teen Katie Hong has launched an online fundraiser to help support efforts to find her. The GoFundMe was launched by Hong's family and seeks to raise $50,000.
San Carlos man previously shot by Home Depot security faces trial for Target robberyKatie, 16, has been missing since July 25 and was last seen in the area of Queens Park Court heading toward Irvington Community Park in Fremont. She is considered at risk, according to the Fremont Police Department.
"Our beloved Katie has been missing since July 25th, and every moment without her has been absolutely heartbreaking for the family," the fundraiser said. "We are desperate to bring her home."
Katie's parents, according to a GoFundMe spokesperson, are both deaf and are taking leaves from work to focus on the search.

"Her smile lights up every room, and she has always been mature beyond her years. As the daughter of two deaf parents, Katie has played an essential and selfless role in our family, always helping, always supporting, always loving."
Katie's younger sister, according to the fundraiser, is "navigating this traumatic time with incredible strength and courage." Part of the money raised in the fundraiser would go toward supporting the younger sister.
The funds, according to the family, would be used for:
Hiring private investigators Legal and communications support Counseling and school transition for Hong's sister Daily living expenses while Hong's parents take time off work"The family is doing everything in their power to find her," the fundraiser said. "The parents are planning to take leaves of absence from work so they can fully devote ourselves to this search. Furthermore, this process of finding Katie requires resources that come at significant cost."

"We believe with all our hearts that Katie will come home," the fundraiser reads. "Your support brings us one step closer to reality."
