The fifth and final Test match of the series between the India National Cricket Team and the England National Cricket Team, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27, started on July 31.
The Kennington Oval in London hosted the match between the Shubman Gill-led India and Ollie Pope-led England that lasted all five days.
For the series finale, both the hosts and visitors made four changes each to their playing XI, with some being forced and others being tactical.
Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel, Akash Deep, and Karun Nair replaced Jasprit Bumrah, injured Rishabh Pant, Anshul Kamboj, and Shardul Thakur in India XI, while Jacob Bethell, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton, and Josh Tongue replaced injured Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, and Liam Dawson in England XI
India lost the fifth consecutive toss in the series and were invited to bat first. A collective batting effort saw the visitors put up a decent score of 224 runs on the board, with Karun Nair (57) hitting the only half-century in the innings. For England, Gus Atkinson shone with a sensational 5-wicket haul.
Then, on Day 2 itself, the Three Lions came out all guns blazing in their first innings with the bat. Zak Crawley (64) and Ben Duckett (43) showcased the truest form of the Bazball and smashed the Indian bowlers all over the park.

India set a target of 374 runs for England
In India's second innings with the bat, the young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stood tall and slammed an excellent hundred (118 runs off 164 balls).
Other main batters were not able to impress much, but India still ended up with a massive score of 396 as all-rounders Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Akash Deep blasted epic half-centuries to set up a target of 374 runs for the hosts. Josh Tongue shone with his 5-wicket haul in this innings.
England lost one wicket on Day 3 and started Day 4 at 50/1. They batted very well with Ben Duckett slamming a fifty and Ollie Pope chipping in with crucial 27 runs.
After that, Harry Brook and Joe Root smashed sensational centuries and built an excellent 195-run stand before India staged a mini comeback to reduce the Three Lions to 337/6. However, the day's play was called off due to bad light and rain, and on the final day, the hosts needed just 35 runs for the victory.
On Day 5, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna didn't let England complete the run-chase and bowled them out for 367 to help India win by 6 runs.
