A burning car on Interstate 580 in Castro Valley sparked a vegetation fire on Sunday evening, officials said.
The far right two lanes heading westbound near Eden Canyon Road were temporarily blocked off as a result of the fire, according to the California Highway Patrol. One individual was in the vehicle when it caught fire, but was uninjured.
Shortly after 6 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire had grown to approximately 15 to 20 acres.
