A 69-year-old man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a vehicle struck him as he was crossing a street near Point Loma early Sunday morning, the San Diego Police Department said.

At 3:22 a.m. Sunday, the man was walking across the 4100 block of Sports Arena Boulevard as a 28-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Toyota Rav4 south, according to the department.

    “The driver did not see the pedestrian, and the pedestrian was struck,” police said.

    The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and was believed to be in the intensive care unit.

    An SDPD official said that neither alcohol nor any criminal intent were considered factors in the collision, which is under investigation.
