A major crash on the southbound I-15 near Carmel Mountain Ranch left at least eight people injured on Sunday morning .
The freeway was also shut down down after the three-vehicle collision, which was reported just before 9 a.m. Sunday on the south I-15 near Camino del Norte, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Two people had major injuries. An SDFD spokesperson that said six others suffered only minor injuries.
The department said the carpool lane on the 15 was shut down near Carmel Mountain Road while officials remained on the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
