Photos show vehicle wanted in connection with deadly hit-and-run in Beach Park

Authorities in Lake County are searching for the driver of a pickup who struck and killed a motorcyclist in a hit-and-run in late July.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office released images from license plate cameras on Saturday, showing a maroon 2017 GMC Sierra pickup involved in a deadly crash in Beach Park. The pickup in question, which would have sustained front-end damage and damage to the passenger side, is believed to be at a repair shop or stored in a garage, authorities said.

While photos released by police show the vehicle with license plates, sheriff’s deputies said it’s possible the license plates have been removed or license plates that don’t match the vehicle have been added.

Sheriff’s officials said the vehicle might have two decals on the top rear window, but it’s possible they may have been removed as well.

The pickup is believed to have struck a 19-year-old motorcyclist at approximately 5:50 a.m. on July 27 near Green Bay Road and Sallmon Avenue in Beach Park. The motorcycle, a Kawasaki sports bike, had damage consistent with being struck by another vehicle that fled from the scene, deputies stated.

The motorcyclist, Adrian Rogel-Villanueva, died from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Team.

Anyone with information about the location of the suspect’s vehicle or the incident itself is asked to call investigators at 847-377-4000 or contact Lake County CrimeStoppers at 847-662-2222.
