I’m going to celebrate my one-year anniversary at the new apartment (can I still call it new?) by completely unplugging in the afternoon. But first, some news and notes from around the Bears universe.
One thing I can’t stress enough about Dallas Cowboys edge defender Micah Parsons is that he is the type of player who is worth the type of draft capital that is required to make a trade happen. His résumé (four Pro Bowls, two first-team All-Pro nods, 52.5 sacks in 63 games … I could go on) is elite. And he just turned 26, meaning he is only now entering his prime. Khalil Mack was entering his age-27 season when the Bears swung that trade in 2018. Getting a similar player a year earlier in their prime cycle would feel like a steal. To be clear: I’m not sure Dallas will make him available. But it shouldn’t matter. Bears GM Ryan Poles should be blowing up Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ phone on the hour every hour until he gets a firm ‘no’ from the other side of the line.ICYMI: COWBOYS STAR MICAH PARSONS REQUESTS A TRADE
Among the key issues: Micah Parsons spoke directly with Jerry Jones over multiple days in the spring. The team believed those conversations were negotiations and that it had a deal, multiple league sources said. (1/3)[image or embed]

When his agent attempted to start negotiations, the Cowboys declined to engage with him and told the pass rusher that they believed they already had a deal. (2/3)

— Dianna Russini (@diannarussini.bsky.social) August 1, 2025 at 10:15 AM More from The Athletic, which features a post from Nick Baumgardner laying out expectations for 2025 NFL Draft first-round picks. This is what Baumgardener had to say about Bears tight end Colston Loveland, who was selected with the 10th overall pick:A lot of this depends on Loveland’s health, though the rookie was healthy enough to be on the field in some capacity when Chicago opened camp. In terms of schematic fit, though, this was one of my favorite picks. Loveland is a taller version of Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta, one of Ben Johnson’s favorite weapons in Detroit. If Loveland’s healthy, I think he can be an All-Rookie performer.
Another Sam LaPorta comp for Colston Loveland. I’m here for it, especially since Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson put that in our heads back in the spring. May 10, 2025; Lake Forest, IL, USA; Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson talks with tight end (84) Colston Loveland during Rookie Minicamp at Halas Hall. Mandatory Credit: David Banks-Imagn Images Because I know you care about what Baumgardener had to say about Tyler Warren, this is what was written about the Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end who many projected would go to the Bears with the 10th pick: “Warren is a great fit within the Colts offense, fills a huge need and arrives at a critical time in Anthony Richardson’s development. His production as a rookie will depend on Indianapolis’ QB situation, but his impact on the run game could be immediate and long-lasting.” I know everyone wants to declare winners and losers on NFL Draft weekend, but what if the Bears *AND* Colts both got the player they wanted? Over at the Tribune, Dan Wiederer writes about how the left tackle competition is heating up at Halas Hall. More on that position battle later. Jason Lieser (Sun-Times) lays out how Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson can get 2024 first-round picks Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze to reach their potential. After the QB-WR tandem established solid floors despite chaotic surroundings as rookies, the Williams-Odunze connection looks to flourish in 2025.HAPPY SATURDAY FROM BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad-Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
