(PINPOINT WEATHER) -- A cold front slowly moved into the Carolinas Friday, spawning numerous strong and severe storms in the afternoon and evening.
Some of these storms brought down trees that led to scattered power outages. Thankfully, the severe threat is coming to an end for the night, but the rain chances won't totally go away for the weekend.

Isolated showers may stick around in a few areas overnight as clouds linger. The well-advertised cooldown is here, but it won't be bright and sunny all weekend. Expect mostly cloudy to partly sunny weather for both Saturday and Sunday, with a few spotty showers and possibly a thunderstorm.
But the cooler air will feel especially nice after what was the second hottest July on record at Charlotte Douglas. It'll be a struggle both days for highs to get out of the 70s! We'll feel lower humidity by Sunday, too.
Temperatures next week will be moderate, but will stay below 90 for the most part. Daily isolated storm chances return starting Tuesday.
Tonight: A few showers/thunderstorm. Low 70.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy and cooler. Chance shower, t'storm. High 78.
Sunday: Clouds, some sun. Spotty rain possible. 67/80.
