In June, the city of San Diego’s Commission on Police Practices elected a new leadership cabinet, composed of a chair, first vice chair, and second vice chair.
The newly appointed leaders are Ada Liz Rodriguez as chair, Bonnie Benitez, Esq. as first vice chair, and Clovis Honoré as second vice chair.
The Commission on Police Practices is an independent community oversight body of the San Diego Police Department, empowered to investigate, review, and audit police conduct. The commission’s mission is to hold law enforcement accountable to the community and increase public trust, promoting greater safety for the public and officers.
Rodriguez is a quality engineer, project manager, and U.S. Navy veteran with 12 years of decorated service. A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a B.S. and M.S. in Aeronautics, she has certifications in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Change Management. Rodriguez also serves as a board member of Friends of O’Farrell, Inc., and as a court-appointed special advocate for Voices for Children. Rodriguez was appointed to the CPP in February 2024.
Benitez, Esq., serves as the Executive Director and CEO of Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, supporting trial lawyers who advocate for individuals whose rights have been violated. She has a B.S. from Arizona State University and a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. Benitez is actively involved in the local nonprofit sector through Fieldstone Leadership Network, CA Labradors, Retrievers & More, and Mid-City CAN, where she serves as board secretary. Benitez was appointed to the CPP in May 2023.
Honoré is a longtime community advocate and social justice leader. A graduate of San Diego State University, Honoré has served with organizations including UAAMAC, San Diego Area Congregations for Change, Alliance for African Assistance, and the NAACP San Diego Branch, where he served as President. He currently works with GRID Alternatives and serves on the social justice board at Christian Fellowship Congregational Church. Honoré was appointed to the CPP in May 2023.
