ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A search for a suspect police say fired a gun while on a dirt bike concluded early Friday morning.
Police say it started when they got a call around midnight about dirt bike riders surrounding a woman’s car near Driving Park Avenue and Saint Paul Street. Officers say the group of bikers followed the victim to her car, and then started punching and kicking her car before eventually firing a gun.
Officers later found the group of riders and tried to pull them over, but say they didn’t stop – that’s when a chase started.
One officer chased a biker into the woods near Maplewood Rose Garden and Genesee River Gorge, before the biker eventually ditched their bike and started running. Officers explain the suspect running ekpt running before getting trapped at the top of a “steep embankment” over the river.
Shortly later, SWAT and the Rochester Fire Department helped arrested that suspect with a “high angle rescue.” That suspect is a 22-year-old man from Rochester. He was brought to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He faces a fleeing charge and traffic violations.
As for the shot fired near the victim and her car, that remains an ongoing investigation.
