ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Fire Department hosted a special breakfast to send young burn survivors to “Camp Courage.”
The annual camp is organized by the Finger Lakes Regional Burn Association and offers children who have received treatment for burn injuries the opportunity to enjoy summer camp activities.
Dayveion Alen, who was burned in a fire on Second Street, attended the breakfast to support a sibling going to camp.
“It’s important to be around people more so have same, similar background or experience you have – in a way help cope with your new life,” Alen said.
Capt. Abdoch said they try to give these kids the most care they can. The send-off brunch has become a meaningful tradition.
