MICAH PARSONS appears no closer to agreeing a Dallas Cowboys contract extension.
The four-time Pro Bowler is seeking a $200 million contract to extend his stay in Texas, with his current deal running out next summer.
A five-year contract of that size would make him the best-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
But according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, no positive developments have been made.
“The two sides have gone backwards, not forwards,” Schefter said.
“I don’t think they’re speaking very much these days, if at all. This negotiation, when it was a negotiation, has gone sideways.
“It’s not a negotiation right now. There’s really no conversation about getting a deal done.
“That could change next week. It could change shortly before the season.
“We’ve seen how long Dallas sometimes waits on some of these deals. See CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott last season.”
A fan in attendance at the Cowboys’ training camp on Saturday could be heard chanting “Pay Micah!”
Jones dealt with similar demands before CeeDee Lamb signed a four-year contract extension worth $136million.
But Jones provided very little update when asked about the negotiations with Parsons.
Just no comment,” the Cowboys owner said.
In fact, the 82-year-old businessman seemed to taunt both Parsons and the fans by belittling the chants.
“I heard it light, but not compared to how I heard them say, ‘Pay [CeeDee] Lamb,'” he said.
“That was a faint little sound compared to the way they were hollering last year, ‘Pay Lamb.’
“Whoever’s not in, you can count on a few hollering that. But it was a big loud chant last year on Lamb.”
“Really I don’t have anything to comment there at all,” he later added.
“We want to pay Micah, too. He’s got to want to be paid, too. The chanting doesn’t change anything.”
