Wednesday, July 30–Sunday, August 3, 2025 Irvine, California William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center LCM (50 meters) Meet Central Psych Sheets Live Results Recap: Prelims: Day 1 Finals: Day 1

Night one is complete in Irvine. The top juniors showed out and here are some of the top swims you might have missed, with a majority of them coming from 15 year olds on the girls side.

After dropping the 100 breaststroke from his event lineup for finals, 16 year old Yi Zheng of Carmel Swim Club swam even faster in the 200 butterfly posting a 2:00.68 to finish 10th overall. Zheng has now dropped over five seconds in the event this season as he swam a 2:05.78 at last summer’s Futures meet in Huntsville. He posted a 2:02.52 last month before dropping a 2:00.78 this morning.

Also highlighting the boys side was 17 year old Tobin Uhl who posted a 1:03.30 to win the ‘D’ final of the 100 breast. That time also would have won the ‘B’ final. He entered the meet with a best time of a 1:04.68. He is headed to Georgia Tech this fall.

TCU commit Deacon Gutshall swam to a personal best in the 1500 freestyle two weeks ago and dropped another 20 seconds off that time tonight. Gutshall dropped from a 15:55.96 to a 15:35.86 today to finish 7th. He swam a 15:56.67 for 7th at last summer’s NCSAs.

15 year old Mikayla Tan moved up the all-time rankings in the 15-16 100 breaststroke. She entered the meet with a lifetime best 1:09.38 that sits her at #34 in the 15-16 rankings. She posted a 1:09.36 in prelims which would move her up to be tied for #32 all-time. She was consistent in finals as well, posting a 1:09.40 for Xth.

Ellie Stanley dropped two seconds in the girls 200 fly to finish 4th. She entered the meet with a personal best of a 2:14.28 that she swam for 27th at last month’s US Summer Nationals. She was just off that in prelims with a 2:14.58 before dropping two seconds for a 2:12.18 in finals. The 15 year old has another year in the 15-16 age group and now is #63 in the all-time rankings.

Fellow 15 year old Gabi Brito swam to a 28.78 in the 50 backstroke. Brito showed off her versatility. Her previous best was a 30.04 but that came from the first 50 of her 100 backstroke best time of a 1:02.65. She did not swim the event at US Summer Nationals but her time today would have been 20th.

Zayda Miehl, another 15 year old, dropped about four and a half seconds off her lifetime best in the 800 free en route to a 3rd place finish. Miehl touched in a 8:40.96, dropping from her previous best of a 8:45.37 that she swam just two weeks ago at Sectionals in Mount Hood. She entered the season with a best time of a 8:59.52.

Leading off the girls 200 free relay for Pleasanton Seahawks was Liberty Clark. Clark posted a best time 25.10, dropping from her previous best of a 25.30. Clark is committed to Indiana for this fall and is the #2 seed in the individual event later this week.
