General Hospital fan favorite character Maxie (Kirsten Storms) has either been off the canvas or had a new face recently. Storms has played the legacy character for over 20 years, but changes are on the horizon.
Nicole Paggi has been temporarily cast as Maxie on the ABC soap. The actress will play Maxie a few more times in August before Storms returns.

However, her return will be short-lived. As Parade reported, Storms is taking a temporary leave of absence as she moves to Nashville with her daughter, Harper.
Storms confirmed that she will be playing Maxie as the character is written out to accommodate her time off. Although she insists her exit isn’t permanent, Storms revealed she likely won’t be back in Port Charles this year.

News that Storms is taking a step back from the show comes after she opened up about playing Maxie for two decades. Storms referred to it as a “crazy ride” and gave a shoutout to fans for being “amazing” to her.
This isn’t the first time Storms has left General Hospital. In 2011, the actress took medical leave, and Maxie was recast with Days of Our Lives alum Jen Lilley.
Storms also took time in 2016 and 2018 for health issues, and another Days star, Molly Burnett, stepped into the role of Maxie.
There will be no recast this time around as Maxie will be off-screen for an extended period of time.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
