THE Pittsburgh Steelers have already begun to shape their roster heading into the 2025 season.
Super Bowl-winning running back Cordarrelle Patterson was one of the first players to be let go by the team during training camp.
Patterson was signed by the Steelers in 2024 after leaving the Atlanta Falcons.
He entered this year’s training camp on the roster bubble, and ultimately did not end up making the team.
Patterson announced that he was released on his X account with a hilarious message.
“Breaking news!” he wrote.
“Pittsburgh Steelers release old washed up Cordarrelle Catterson on his day off!!!”
Patterson is a 12-year veteran of the NFL, appearing in 183 regular-season games in his career.
He has just 2,646 rushing yards with 22 touchdowns and 2,875 receiving yards with 17 touchdowns, but he was best known for his ability as a return man.
Patterson was the primary kick returner for pretty much every team he was rostered on, and he was one of the best of all time at doing it.
His nine career kick return touchdowns is the most in NFL history.
He also led the league in kick return touchdowns six times.
Patterson was so good as a kick returner that he was elected to the Pro Bowl four times and named an All-Pro six times.
He won the Super Bowl in he 2018 season with the New England Patriots.
Patterson spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, Patriots, Chicago Bears, Falcons, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
