Krispy Kreme just dropped a handful of new menu items that fans believe could be its best limited-time offer of the summer, which is saying a lot, considering the brand only announced a collaboration with Crocs.
On Tuesday, the fan-favorite doughnut chain revealed an all-new collection inspired by a few of Italy's "most iconic desserts," describing it as a reimagining of three sweet Italian staples as "irresistible doughnuts."
“This summer, Krispy Kreme is transporting you to Italy’s sweet life – no passport required,” Alison Holder, chief brand and product officer at Krispy Kreme, teased in the July 29 release.
The limited-edition Passport to Italy menu features a Tiramisu-inspired, a Cannoli-inspired, and a Limone Delight Doughnut.
Cannoli Inspired Doughnut – an unglazed ring doughnut half-dipped in chocolate icing and cookie crunch, dusted with powdered coating and topped with a cannoli flavored buttercreme dollop.Limone Delight Doughnut – an unglazed shell doughnut filled with lemon delight flavored Kreme, dipped in zesty lemon-flavored icing and topped with candied lemon.Tiramisu Inspired Doughnut – an unglazed shell doughnut filled with tiramisu flavored Kreme, topped with sweet creme flavored buttercreme and dusted with cocoa. Krispy Kreme's Passport to Italy menu arrives for a limited time this August."There’s a taste of Italy’s sweetest dessert traditions in every bite of our Passport to Italy doughnuts, from tiramisu to cannoli to lemon ... dipped, dusted and drizzled to perfection," the exec added.
Fans online appear smitten over the offer, with one writing on Instagram, "I’m gonna have to get these! I love all of these flavors!"
"I'll get the whole box of cannoli! ???," a second teased.
"Oh, I am so here for these ones," a third added, suggesting they were unimpressed by the last few limited-edition runs, which included a collaboration with DC Super Heroes, Hershey's, and a Fourth of July special. "Not gonna lie, the last couple ones have lacked innovation ?."
"Omg they gave it to us Americans ??," a fourth joked.
"Going to Krispy Kreme is much cheaper than a trip to Italy," someone else joked in a separate post. "And it's got lots of donuts!"
"tiramisu yummmmm," one more added.
Krispy Kreme's new menu collection is available at participating locations nationwide beginning today, in-store and for pickup or delivery via Krispy Kreme’s app and website, individually and by the dozen.
But like your actual passport, this offer will also expire–and soon. The Passport to Italy will only be served for a little over two weeks, with the promotion running through Sunday, August 17.
