GATES, N.Y. – The Gates Police said they recovered three credit/debit card skimming devices within the last 24 hours.
They were found at Walmart on Chili Avenue on Sunday, at Dollar General on Spencerport Road on Monday, and at Dollar General on Chili Avenue on Monday.
The devices transmit your credit card number and PIN to remote devices, which allows others to use your card.
Police say to check the machine before inserting your card. The skimmers fit over the credit/debit card machines and are easy to recognize. You can just pull them off with your hands. If you’re not sure, talk to a store employee.
Anyone who sees one should call the police.
