Jamie Lee Curtis is one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood, though she revealed why she is "prepping to get out" of the industry after several decades of fame.
While speaking to The Guardian on Saturday, June 26, Curtis, 66, criticized the way older actors, particularly women, are treated in Hollywood.
“I witnessed my parents lose the very thing that gave them their fame and their life and their livelihood, when the industry rejected them at a certain age,” Curtis, who is the daughter of late screen icons Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, said. “I watched them reach incredible success and then have it slowly erode to where it was gone. And that’s very painful.”

After noting that she's been “self-retiring for 30 years," Curtis added, “I have been prepping to get out, so that I don’t have to suffer the same as my family did. I want to leave the party before I’m no longer invited."
Despite Curtis' interest in stepping out of the spotlight, she's kept busy in recent years by starring in projects such as The Bear and Freakier Friday. She even won an Oscar for her supporting role in Everything Everywhere All at Once in 2023.
During a recent interview with People, Curtis admitted her mother wouldn't have been happy with her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once due to her character's unkempt appearance.
"My mother's been gone a long time. And today I have a freedom to be myself that my mother's generation would never have allowed," she said of Leigh, who died at the age of 77 in 2004. "My mother would've been incredibly upset at EverythingEverywhere All at Once and how I looked."
She went on to explain that Leigh would have "loathed" Curtis' appearance in the movie because her mother's "generation was so much about your body and what you look like."
