ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The annual Black Culture Festival returned this weekend for its sixth year. The free, family-friendly event brings two days of music, culture, art, and community pride to Rochester’s Parcel Five.
This year’s theme, “Dripping in Culture,” highlights Black influence in fashion, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
“Oh, this is extremely important for the community, because a lot of youth don’t have positive imagery for a lot of things that are happening in the Black community,” said Mike Love, organizer. “We focus on those things and highlight all the positive things that’s happening in the community. And just letting them know that hey, you can be an entrepreneur, you can be a business owner, you can be anything you want to if you put your mind to it, you don’t have to focus on negative things.”
More than 50 Black-owned businesses were present.
