2025 EUROPEAN YOUTH OLYMPIC FESTIVAL
Monday, July 21st – Friday, July 25th Skopje, Macedonia LCM (50m) Meet Central SwimSwam Preview Day 1 Recap/Day 2 Recap/Day 3 Recap/Day 4 Recap ResultsSwimming at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival wrapped up last night with a packed schedule unfolding from Skopje, Macedonia.
Turkish teenager Arel Gultekin doubled up on his 200m fly victory from earlier in the competition with another win in the 100m fly.
Gultekin stopped the clock at 53.61 to score the sole time of the field under the 54-second barrier.
That ripped his former personal best of 54.33 to shreds, with that previous PB having been notched just earlier this month to place 19th out of the heats of the event at this year’s European Junior Championships.
Here in Macedonia, Alberto Madrid Prado of Spain secured silver in 54.35 while Italy’s Boris Bandiera rounded out the podium in 55.77.
France got on the board on the final night, courtesy of Rosalie Memacque in the girls’ 800m freestyle.
Mesmacque produced a time of 8:51.68 to beat the pack comfortably, one which included Italian swimmer Sofia Biagi who settled for silver in 8:55.27.
Hungarian Anna Biborka Bartalos also landed on the podium, hitting 9:00.37, good enough for bronze.
Makar Yakhno of Ukraine found success in the boys’ 400m IM, logging a winning effort of 4:31.25.
That knocked well over 2 seconds off his previous career-swiftest time of 4:33.93 put up in April of this year.
Filip Gero of Slovakia hit a result of 4:32.95 for silver while Romanian Cezar Stoica earned the bronze in 4:35.19.
Spain earned gold in two events to close out the competition, first in the women’s 100m back and then also in the 50m free.
Both wins came at the hands of Irene Ciercoles Galve, with the swimmer earning 1:02.17 in the former and 25.75 in the latter.
Her time in the splash n’ dash represents a new lifetime best, overwriting the 25.68 turned in earlier this year. The teen’s 100m back PB remains at the 1:01.78 established in March.

The girls’ 200m IM saw Barbara Lesniewska strike gold in 2:14.82 as the only swimmer to delve under the 2:18 threshold.
