ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our weekend is going to feature plenty of rain, but due to the timing it shouldn’t have much impact on outdoor plans.
Warm, muggy, and mostly cloudy during the day on Saturday, then an isolated thunderstorm may form near Rochester this evening that will put a temporary damper on things… A bit of a break afterwards, but then late tonight things really start to ramp up. Widespread thunderstorms will form, bringing bouts of heavy rain… The catch is that the ground is relatively dry, so it is a lot harder to start a flood right now. That’s why we stay Green on the Threat Tracker for overnight, alongside the fact that any storms should not be producing damaging winds or other kinds of severe weather.
Sunday morning those storms will still be going on, but areas north of the Thruway will see clearing skies going into the afternoon. Finger Lakes region may have to wait a little longer before the rain and thunder ends, but Sunday evening is looking great for everyone.
Hot, sunny, and humid on Monday, and that heat and humidity sticks around for a few more days before a cooler, more comfortable pattern takes over. That pattern will last from the latter half of the workweek all the way to early next week, making for an outstanding weekend…
