Jimmy Fallon’s Music Picks Pay Tribute to Late Legends Ozzy Osbourne and Chuck Mangione

Jimmy Fallon is using his platform to pay tribute to two late music legends.

On his Instagram Story earlier on Friday, the late-night host shared his latest “JFJAM” music recommendations, a longtime series where he highlights songs he’s loving, but this week’s picks carried extra weight.

Fallon shouted out three iconic tracks: “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne, “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath and “Feels So Good” by jazz flugelhornist Chuck Mangione.

Osbourne, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath and a pioneer of heavy metal, died on Tuesday following complications from a 22-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Known for his persona and unforgettable voice, the late musician helped shape an entire genre of music and left behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations of rock artists and fans alike. Despite these health complications, he continued to be active in his music career and performed a farewell show with Black Sabbath on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, just a little over two weeks before his death. He was 76 years old.

Black Sabbath is an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward and bassist Geezer Butler. "Paranoid" and "Changes" are arguably the band's most popular songs.

Meanwhile, Mangione also passed away on Tuesday, peacefully at the age of 83, in his home in Rochester, NY. The Grammy-winning musician was celebrated for making jazz accessible to wider audiences and for his signature flugelhorn sound that transcended genres. "Feels So Good," one of the hits that Fallon posted on his Instagram stories, was Mangione's most popular song.

Though known for his humor, the 50-year-old comedian’s JFJAM picks this week offered a heartfelt reminder of music’s power and was a beautiful way to honor and remember these two brilliant artists.

Fans can also watch his talk show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, live on NBC every weekday at 11:35 p.m. ET.
