Arizona Cardinals linebacker J.J. Russell is in concussion protocol following a collision at training camp on Thursday.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon said Russell is in good spirits and is back in the building.

Russell had collided with safety Kitan Crawford during a 7-on-7 drill on the second day of practice which caused training camp to stop. Crawford was able to get up following the collision.

Russell was taken to a hospital afterward for a head and neck injury evaluation. Arizona announced Thursday evening he was released from the hospital and had rejoined the team at training camp.

Russell signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals in May. He previously spent his first three seasons in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
