ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Golisano Children’s Hospital celebrated the opening of its new Pediatric Simulation Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.
The center is designed to help staff train for life-saving interventions before they are needed. This includes scenarios such as severe allergic reactions and sudden cardiac arrest.
The simulation center was built with funding from the community. Physicians at the hospital said this type of training will improve their readiness.
“Here, the care team cane hone their technical skills,” said Chair of Pediatrics at Golisano Children’s Hospital, Dr. Jill S. Halterman. “They can master new protocols, and strengthen the teamwork and communication that’s really critical during medical emergencies. And this kind of hands-on training elevates our readiness and sharpens our response, so that when the unexpected happens, we’re totally ready.”
Doctors also say the new lab will help with recruitment efforts.
