England National Cricket Team modern-day batting great Joe Root has displayed an exceptional performance in the ongoing Test match against the India National Cricket Team.
Joe Root slammed a sensational century against the India National Cricket Team in the fourth Test match that helped him become the second-highest run-scorer in the history of the longest format of the game.

Root came out to bat in the fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester after Ben Duckett got out on 94 on Day 2 in the 39th over. He remained unbeaten at 11 at the end of the day's play.
On Day 3, Root started his grind in the middle and made life hard for the Indian bowlers. He looked in total control and was not troubled even by premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
Root completed his half-century in the match in 99 balls and set his eyes on a triple-figure mark. He kept batting brilliantly and reached the score of 98* before playing a lot of balls and finally completing his century in 178 balls.
Root was very calm as he celebrated his 38th Test hundred and 12th Test ton against India. Notably, 12 is the most Test tons by any batter in history against India.
Root's innings in Manchester also helped him surpass Rahul Dravid (13,288), Jacques Kallis (13,289), and Ricky Ponting (13,378) to become the second-highest run-getter in Test history.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah took to X to congratulate Root on becoming the second-highest Test run-scorer and labelled it an unbelievable milestone. He stated:

The veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle lauded Root and said he can break Sachin Tendulkar's record, while former India opener Wasim Jaffer showered rich praise on the batter.
"Root moves to no 2 and should be odds on favourite to reach 15922. Certainly he has distanced himself from all his contemporaries. England play so many tests that, inevitably, they must hold all test records. Root has played 157 in 13 tests, 12/year. Tendulkar, by comparison, played 200 in 24 years, just over 8/year," Harsha Bhogle wrote on X.
