Two busy suburban Metra lines in and out of Chicago were stopped and facing major delays Friday morning due to a vehicle striking a bridge near Clybourn, Metra said.
NBC 5 traffic reporter Kye Martin noted the vehicle strike occurred somewhere between Clybourn and Ogilvie Transportation Center, where the train tracks running along the Kennedy Expressway
As of 6 a.m., all UP-North inbound and outbound trains were halted near Clybourn, Metra said. UPN 303 scheduled to arrive in Kenosha at 7:15 a.m. was also delayed due to the strike, Metra said.
UP-Northwest lines were also impacted with trains going to and leaving from Ogilvie Transportation Center halted due to the incident.
“The estimated time of delay is unknown,” Metra said. “We will update this information as soon as it becomes available.”
