ANNE Burrell’s Worst Cooks co-host has revealed the very sweet gesture she made to him before her death at 55.
Anne, who was known for her work on the Food Network channel, was found unresponsive at her home in Brooklyn, New York on the morning of June 17.
The cause of Anne’s death was revealed on July 24, with The U.S. Sun confirming Anne’s death was ruled a suicide.
In an interview published on the same day as Anne’s cause of death was shared, her Worst Cooks co-host Gabe Bertaccini opened up about them filming Worst Cooks in America: Talented and Terrible.
The Worst Cooks in America: Talented and Terrible will premiere on July 28, which will be hosted by Gabe and the late, great Anne.
Speaking to TV Insider about filming the show with Anne before her tragic death, Gabe opened up about their last interaction he will cherish the most.
He detailed the very sweet gesture she made to him as the show wrapped up filming.
“It was the finale. Everyone is tired. Weeks and weeks have gone by,” he began.
“We are celebrating the end of the shoot, and I get really sick. I had this cold. I felt like crap.
SWEET GESTURE
“We go through the production meeting and Anne hands me this card. It said, ‘I hope you feel better.’
“In the card, there is this cute little heart that she crocheted. She loved to knit,” he explained.
Gabe then said how she would knit while waiting for shooting time and this “was relaxing to her”.
He then confessed, “I still have it. It was such a beautiful gesture and completely unnecessary.
“That’s exactly who Anne was.
“There was no ego or competition.
“Someone to take a little bit of her time to do something like that for her co-host, it’s special.
“It’s a great memory that I’ll be taking with me.”
Fans reacted to Gabe’s words, with one writing on Reddit, “I just love him and what he said about show how much he respected and loved her. What a class act.”
UPCOMING TV APPEARANCE
The season was filmed before the news of Anne’s death broke back in June.
Anne had been a co-host on the Worst Cooks show since its inception in 2010.
Fans were concerned when she didn’t show for season 28.
When she was asked why she wasn’t hosting the program on Instagram, she wrote, “Honestly, I don’t know.”
But the network confirmed last month, after her death, that Anne would be making a comeback for Worst Cooks in America: Talented and Terrible.
CAUSE OF DEATH REVEALED
This comes after a New York City Medical Examiner spokesperson told The U.S. Sun this week that Anne’s cause of death was “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine.”
Diphenhydramine and cetirizine are often used as allergy medications, while ethanol is commonly known as alcohol.
Amphetamine is a stimulant often used in ADHD medication like Adderall.
The official also confirmed the manner of death was suicide.
NYPD confirmed to The U.S. Sun that they received a 911 call on June 17 at 7:50am to an “aided female” inside the residence and upon arrival found a 55-year-old “unconscious.”
The NYPD told The U.S. Sun: “She was pronounced dead at the scene.”
According to reports, dozens of pills were discovered when she was found dead in her shower.
