USA Swimming Futures Championships- Sacramento
July 23-26, 2025 North Natomas Aquatic Center– Sacramento, CA Meet Central Psych Sheet Live Results on Meet Mobile: “USA Swimming Futures Sacramento 2025”Sacramento is playing host to the only one of five USA Swimming Futures meets on the west coast, and there are some powerhouse teams in attendance.
Ella Detter, an 18-year-old from Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics, had the girl’s swim of the session, swimming 2:14.21 to win the girl’s 200 butterfly. This was the 3rd fastest swim in the country yesterday, coming in behind Audrey Derivaux’s 2:08.21 and Ines Arnall’s 2:13.66 which were both swum at the Greensboro meet. She won the Sacramento meet by about a second over Maya Hetland’s 2:15.26, the 7th fastest swim among all futures meets yesterday.
This was a new best time for Detter, improving from the 2:15.41 mark she set a few weeks ago at the Super League Champs. She has dropped more than two seconds this season alone in the event, going from 2:16.72, which she swam in July of last year and then tied at the USA Swimming Nationals this June to the 2:14.21 she swam yesterday.
Detter, one of our Best of the Rest athletes for the class of 2025, will be swimming at Stanford in the fall, and her drop in the fly event last night is a good sign for how she will show up for the Cardinal this school year.
Not only was Detter the champion in a new best time, she also split a very consistent race, as far as 200 butterflies go. She was out in 1:04.02, after splitting 30.19/33.84 for the first two 50s. This had her in a tie for 2nd place with Dart Swimming’s Ella Ackerman, who ended up finishing 5th. Detter’s teammate Kelsey Zhang had the lead by almost two seconds, touching in 1:02.36.
Detter had a strong final 100 though, splitting 35.20/34.99 to come home in 1:10.19 and grab the win. Both her final 50 and her 2nd 100 splits were the fastest in the heat, and she was one of three athletes whose final 50 was faster than their 3rd 50.
On the boy’s side Benjamin Butler had a very strong 200 freestyle to take home the title. Butler, who swims for Thunder Coast Aquatics but will be swimming at Arizona in the fall, swam 1:50.18, the 2nd fastest time among Futures meets after Max Goettsch’s 1:48.70 in Madison.
This was almost a second-and-a-half better than his previous best of 1:52.50 which he swam at the end of June. He came into the year with a lifetime best of 1:52.58, which he has now dropped exactly 1.40 seconds from.
Butler grabbed the lead in the first 100, flipping at 53.85 after splitting 25.79/28.08. On the 2nd 100 he stayed in the same range as his 2nd 50 swimming 28.10/28.23 to touch in 56.33, locking up the win by more than a second over 2nd place finisher Nathan Foucu from Quick Silver Swimming’s 1:51.48.
The best overall swim of the evening came out of Quicksilver Swimming where the boys’ 200 free relay team of Nathan Foucu (22.91), Clark Apuada (23.37), Isaac Litwiller (22.81), and Tyler Porter (22.52) swam a final time of 1:31.61 to go the fastest time out of all five futures meets. At their meet, they came in about half-a-second over North Bay Aquatics’ 1:32.10.
Other Event Winners and Top-8 Swims
Amelia Mason, an 18-year-old Flatiron Athletic Club-CO, won the girl’s 200 freestyle in 2:01.84. She dropped about a half-second from her previous best of 2:02.40, which she swam in June of 2024. This was the 4th best time among futures meets for the Tennessee commit. She was joined on the top 8 list by 16-year-old Charlotte Milkie from Circle City Aquatics of Corona, who dropped a second-and-a-half to touch in 2:01.94 for 2nd. Milkie came into the season at 2:04.51 marking a near three-second drop. Sarah Bennetts, 20, won the girl’s 100 breast in 1:10.40, a time that would have been 6th if all the futures meets were combined. This was about a second add for Bennetts, who is entering her junior year at UCLA in the fall and holds a best time of 1:09.44 from July of 2023. Jordan Ragland, 17, took the boy’s 100 breast in 1:02.06. This was a significant drop for the Life Time Northern California swimmer, who had never been faster than 1:04.39 in the event. Ragland, a rising high school senior, will be swimming at the University of Louisville starting in the fall of 2026 DART Swimming’s Brandon Ha, 17, won the boy’s 200 fly with a time of 2:01.63. This was almost a second faster than 2nd place finisher Zachary Power’s 2:02.46 and was about a tenth faster than his previous best of 2:01.72. Ha is in the class of 2026, and he is already committed to Northwestern. 15-year-old Zayda Miehl from Corvallis Aquatic Team in Oregon won the girl’s 800 freestyle, stopping the clock at 8:47.59. This was the 7th fastest time in the country yesterday, but was about two seconds off her lifetime best of 8:45.37 that she swam at the Speedo Sectionals in Mt-Hood last weekend. The boy’s 1500 free was won by Quinn Jones, a 19-year-old who was swimming unattached though he attends the University of Utah. He touched in 15:49.92 to win the event by just over eight seconds. He was just four-hundredths off his lifetime best of 15:49.88 from last July. Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics won the other three relays that were not won by Quicksilver. They won the girl’s 200 medley relay in 1:56.64, coming in a little over a second ahead of Riverside Aquatics Association who swam 1:57.81. Their boy’s 200 medley relay swam a time of 1:42.23 to win the event by a second over DART and set the 6th fastest time of the Futures meets. Finally, the girl’s 200 free relay swam a time of 1:45.12 to pick up the 5th time in the country yesterday and win the event, again, by just over a second ahead of Rose Bowl Aquatics.Read the full story on SwimSwam: Ella Detter and Benjamin Button Have Huge Drops to Highlight Sacramento Futures–Day 1 Recap
