DANSVILLE, N.Y. — A 21-year-old has been arrested after state police say he set a house on fire in the Town of Dansville.
According to state police, on July 21, troopers responded to a home on County Route 46 for a welfare check. When they got there, heavy smoke was coming from the home, with the home later being deemed a total loss.
Troopers say they found Jayden Cain in a shed nearby on the property and admitted to intentionally starting the fire by using gasoline and was taken into custody without incident. According to state police, there was a domestic dispute before the fire where Cain took the victim’s phone and damaged it.
Cain was charged with arson in the third-degree and criminal mischief in the fourth-degree.
