A large sinkhole on a residential street in Chicago’s Noble Square neighborhood near West Town Thursday morning appeared to have swallow up a parked car, with officials from the Chicago Water Department blocking off the area as the lopsided car remained halfway up in the air.
Photos and video from the scene, in the 1500 block of West Walton, showed a silver sedan partway gobbled up by the large sinkhole, with the front-half of the car dipped down into the street. The back driver’s side wheel could be seen lifted into the air.
Around the block, yellow caution tape was put up to enclose the scene.
The Chicago Police Department confirmed they a call to assist the Chicago Fire Department at the scene.
The Chicago Fire Department did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago’s request for more information.
