Much like Taylor Swift, Frank Zappawent through numerous "eras" before his passing in 1993. With the original Mothers of Invention, he pioneered psychedelic freak rock, mixing classic rhythm and blues and elegant orchestra arrangements with the avant-garde. He embraced jazz fusion with his solo album, Hot Rats, and then, ribald humor and rock and roll with the second incarnation of The Mothers (featuring Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman of The Turtles).
However, many consider Zappa's run of albums at the start of the 1970s to be his best. He finally found that balance, blending his cynical humor, musical genius and pop sensibilities into records that are now classics.
One such is One Size Fits All, featuring jazz great George Duke, iconic percussionist Ruther Underwood, drumming sensation Chester Thompson, legendary bassist Tom Fowler and the dynamic performer Napoleon Murphy Brock.
While it didn't reach the commercial success of Apostrophe(') or Over-Nite Sensation, Zappa's One Size Fits All has gained a greater appreciation in the decades since its release. And to honor its 50th anniversary, One Size All will receive a "re-upholstered and remastered" edition, featuring outtakes, alternate edits, and a previously unreleased complete show from this era.
"The first thing I think about when I hear One Size Fits All is its sonic impact," said Joe Travers, the official "Zappa Vaultmaster" overseeing this reissue, in a press release. "To me, I find it the second-best sounding album in the entire Frank Zappa catalog (first place awarded to Joe's Garage)."

Travers added that time and effort were spent ensuring "the stereo mix sound as brilliant as possible." He adds, "Over time, One Size Fits All, albeit overlooked in 1975, is now considered a high point in the FZ catalog."
Fans can dive deep into the Super Deluxe Edition, a 4-CD, 1-Blu-ray Audio collection that contains the Sept. 28, 1974, show from Rotterdam, Netherlands, in its entirety. The album will also be available in a 2LP edition and a single LP edition. Pre-orders are available now, and it'll arrive on September 26.
