ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester School District released a statement about 17-year-old Ricardo Carrero Chico, who was killed in a crash on I-590 on Tuesday.
The statement reads:
“The Rochester City School District is heartbroken over the tragic loss of a recent graduate from East Upper School. Ricardo Carrero Chico, a proud member of the Class of 2025, passed away on Tuesday, July 22.
Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved him. We are holding his family close in our hearts and offering our full support to the East staff and students who are grieving.
As a support to students, counseling and emotional support services are available at the school. The District is in contact with the family as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. The District will be respecting the family’s privacy by not providing any further statements.”
Police say Chico was driving north on I-590 and lost control of his car, which caused him to cross over the median into the other lanes and crash into two other cars. Three people were injured, but are expected to be alright.
