The return of the Premier League is just over three weeks away, and the odds market has taken some drastic changes between now and the end of last season.
talkSPORT BET has taken a look at some of the differences in the betting markets for the upcoming Premier League campaign, compared with when the last campaign came to close a couple of months ago.

talkSPORT BET Spokesperson Ryon Scott-Douglas has commented: “Since winning the Club World Cup, punters have backed Chelsea to win the Premier League and they are now as short as 6/1 from an initial 20/1 when the market opened.
“Arsenal have also been heavily backed following some much needed reinforcements in Martín Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and soon to be Viktor Gyökeres.
“At the other end of the table, Brentford have shortened to 3/1 (from 5/1) to be relegated following a host of departures this summer including Bryan Mbeumo to Man Utd and the gaffer, Thomas Frank to Spurs.”
Chelsea to win the Premier League – (was 20/1) NOW 6/1
Perhaps the most notable change in the odds has come in the wake of Chelsea being crowned champions of the world, with the odds for Enzo Maresca’s side to win the upcoming Premier League title dropping from 20/1 to 6/1 following their Club World Cup triumph.
The Blues have finished 12th, sixth and fourth in the last three Premier League seasons, sneaking themselves into the top four after victory against Nottingham Forest on the final day of the campaign.
The west London side have also spent more than £200m on new signings in the current transfer window, splashing out on the likes of Joao Pedro, who played a big part in their Club World Cup triumph, as well as Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and Brazilian starlet Estevao.
Arsenal to win the Premier League – (was 5/2) NOW 9/4
The Gunners’ odds have shortened ever so slightly over the last couple of months, in part perhaps to their promising transfer window so far, which has seen them bolster their midfield, sign a winger and are seemingly about to final solve their striker issue.
Long-term target Martin Zubimendi has signed from Real Sociedad to sure up the middle of the park, while former Brentford captain Christian Norgaard has also joined in that position. Mikel Arteta will be hoping that Noni Madueke can provide goals and assists from the wing.
The north London side haven’t won a Premier League title since their famous ‘Invincible’ season in 2004, and consecutive second placed finishes in the last three years makes it 21 years and counting since they were last crowned champions of England.
Brentford to be relegated – (was 5/1) NOW 3/1
Brentford have endured a tempestuous summer since their top half finish in the Premier League last season, losing manager Thomas Frank and five of his backroom staff to Tottenham, club captain Christian Norgaard to Arsenal, best player Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United, and look like also losing their next best player in Yoane Wissa.
The mass exodus from the West London club, as well as the appointment of Keith Andrews as Frank’s successor in what is his first job as manager, is leading many to believe the Bees are in deep trouble for the upcoming season.
Alexander Isak to win the Golden Boot – (was 8/1) NOW 6/1
The Newcastle striker finished last season only behind Mohamed Salah in the Premier League’s Golden Boot, with 23 goals, as well as six assists, in his 34 league appearances.
The drop in price for the Sweden international to win the Golden Boot could largely be down to Liverpool’s concrete interest in signing the striker, which would likely shorten the 25-year-old’s odds for finishing top scorer even further.
Newcastle to finish in the top four – (was 1/1) NOW 7/4
Murmurs of Isak’s departure likely play a role in the lengthening of Newcastle’s odds to secure a top four finish next season, particularly with Liverpool seeming hijacking the Magpies bid for highly-rated Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
The odds may also have drifted due to the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham having all splashed some cash on new signings in the transfer window and will all have their eyes set on a top four position and a place in next season’s Champions League.
Manchester City to win the Premier League – (was 11/4) NOW 3/1
The odds for Manchester City, who missed out on winning a record-extending fifth consecutive Premier League title last season, to lift the league title once again in May next year have drifted slightly, perhaps in part due to their disappointing Club World Cup campaign.
Pep Guardiola’s side went into the tournament in America among the pre-tournament favourites to defend their Club World Cup crown they’d won two years prior, but fell to shock 4-3 extra-time defeat to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal when it had appeared that the Citizens had fallen on the kinder side of the draw with a nice run to the final.
City have made improvements to their squad, bringing in Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rayan Cherki, and have also let some of their older players go, with the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Kyle Walker both having exited the club after and 400+ and 300+ club appearances respectively.
Nottingham Forest to be relegated – (was 12/1) NOW 8/1
There is slightly more shadow over Nottingham Forest’s season now compared with when they secured themselves a seventh placed finish in the Premier League in May, their highest league finish in 30 years, which saw them qualify for European football next season.
Star player Morgan Gibbs-White’s future at the club seems uncertain with strong rumours linking him to a move to Tottenham, which, when combined with Anthony Elanga’s departure for Newcastle, would be a huge blow for the East Midlands side.
There has also been rumours of some unrest behind the scenes regarding Nuno Espirito Santo’s future as manager, as well as with club owner Evangelos Marinakis.
