An episode about a 2021 murder-arson case out of Greeley will air as part of the “Killer Cases” series Friday.
The episode, titled “Fatal Encounter,” will air at 7 p.m. Mountain Time Friday on the A&E Network, according to Kate Cooper with Law&Crime. People can stream the episode the next day on Philo, A&E, A&E Crime Central Apple TV Channel, Hulu, Peacock, fuboTV, The Roku Channel or Spectrum On Demand.
A Weld judge sentenced Stacey Rodriguez to life in prison in March for killing Chris Dickerson, 35, of Greeley and setting his house on fire in October 2021.
Rodriguez and co-defendant Hosanna Varela met Dickerson at a Greeley bar on the evening of Oct. 2, 2021. They went to Dickerson’s home for a “casual gathering.” After arrival, Rodriguez stabbed Dickerson to death and set his house on fire.
In January 2024, a judge sentenced Varela to 32 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to first-degree arson, tampering with a deceased human body and accessory to a crime.
“Police found the body of a man stabbed to death in the ruins of his home after a blazing fire,” the episode’s longline said. “Security cameras showed two figures driving away from the scene. Detectives identified two female lovers as the suspects, each telling very different stories.”
The episode will feature in-depth interviews with the Greeley Police Department’s lead investigators on the case, a retired Greeley deputy fire marshal, the Weld County District Attorney’s prosecution team and Greeley Tribune reporter Chris Bolin, Cooper said.
“Killer Cases,” produced by the Law&Crime Network, covers high-profile murder trials.
The series uses police evidence and courtroom trial coverage to offer “rare insights into the criminal justice process,” according to the description. Viewers will become “armchair detectives,” exploring real-time video and audio materials like 911 calls, video surveillance, interrogation videos and more.
