Haley Joel Osment made a public return at the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2.
The 37-year-old actor walked the red carpet on Tuesday in Los Angeles just weeks after a judge ordered him to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and therapy sessions following a widely publicized arrest.
Best known for his breakout role in The Sixth Sense, Osmentappeared in good spirits, posing for photos and chatting with fans.
It marked his first major appearance since he was charged in April with public intoxication and cocaine possession after a disorderly incident at Mammoth Mountain ski resort in Mono County, California.

According to police footage from the arrest, Osment appeared visibly intoxicated, refused to answer officers’ questions, and made several erratic and offensive comments — including using an antisemitic slur and accusing an officer of being a “Nazi.”
In a statement to the New York Post, Osment apologized, saying: “Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner.”
He continued, “From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts,” adding, “What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage — I’ve let the Jewish community down and it devastates me.”
During a court appearance in June, a judge granted Osment a one-year diversion from prosecution. The agreement requires him to attend three A.A. meetings and two therapy sessions weekly for six months. If he remains compliant, the charges — both misdemeanors — may be dismissed.
Osment’s previous arrest occurred in 2005, when he pleaded no contest to driving under the influence and marijuana possession.
Despite his legal troubles, Osment remains active in the entertainment industry. In addition to appearing in Happy Gilmore 2, he currently voices the character Sora in the Kingdom Hearts video game franchise and plays a serial killer in Season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday.
Osment is expected to appear in court again in January 2026 for a compliance review.
