ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A report from an environmental research center is expected to be released on Tuesday, documenting bacteria levels at beaches in the Rochester area.
Representatives from the Environment New York Research & Policy Center will speak at the Roger Robach Community Center at Ontario Beach Park. The organization says the “safe for swimming” report will provide insight into Lake Ontario beach testing in 2024.
A couple of weeks ago, part of Hamlin Beach was closed due to high levels of E. coli. According to the New York State Parks Department, beach water is tested for quality at least once a week. From there, the department will make decisions about whether to close beaches.
