17 vehicles destroyed in La Habra carport fire

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire that consumed an apartment carport and 17 vehicles in La Habra on Friday night, July 18.

About 30 firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to multiple reports of the blaze at 8:39 p.m. The five engines and two trucks arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the back side of a two-story apartment building near the carports in the 800 block of North Citrus Avenue. That’s near West Whittier Boulevard and North Idaho Street.

    Crews knocked down the fire within 30 minutes, with one person sustaining minor injuries treated at the scene.

    La Habra police made an arrest at the scene, but didn’t immediately release any information about the person’s gender or reason for the arrest.
