On Saturday, July 12, the Business Golf Challenge was played at the Ukiah Valley Golf Course. The tournament benefits the Boys and Girls golf teams. The tournament, in its 29th consecutive year, consisted of 22 teams with 88 players participating in near triple digit temperatures.
The winning team was Thurston Auto Plaza.Players on the winning team consisted of Trevor Thurston, Damian Bird, Tom Fetzer and Matty Randolph. Second place went to the Savings Bank with Stacy Starkey, Diane Pennington, Tami Mee and Lisa Bates. Third place went to Pace Supply with Gary Creekmore, Mark Thornton, Jim Brown and Rich Anderson. Fourth place, Mark Sparso, Rick Johnson, Lee Burgess and Jake Hanson. Fifth place to high school coaches Bernie Sopp, Lloyd Hernandez, Doug Ware and Michael Villa. Sixth place went to McCarthy Auto Body, Darrin McCarthy, Scott Nicoll, Todd Boek and Randy Ruddick.
Speaking for the team players and coaches, we would like to thank the sponsors, players, golf professionals and staff, Savings Bank, and The Lions Club for providing the lunches. We also would like to thank all the people helping with the scoring and the raffle. Special thanks to all the many businesses who contributed to our cause and success.
