GENEVA, N.Y. – In 1965, five 13-year-old boys in Geneva started a band called The Echomen. They have performed in Geneva annually since then and celebrated their 60th anniversary at Club 86.
The band’s history with Club 86 spans decades.
“We used to come here when we were like 14 years old and see Wilmer Alexander Jr. and The Dukes. We weren’t old enough to get in, so they’d put us right on the side of the stage, and we’d sit there and we’d study everything they did,” one band member said. “We couldn’t play clubs, they played clubs, so we would do high schools and do exactly what they did,” he said.
The Echomen regularly played at area high schools and colleges for years.
