Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are not holding back this summer as Wrexham prepare for the Championship.
The Red Dragons have splashed the cash on their biggest transfer since the arrival of their Hollywood owners in 2021.
The signing of Liberato Cacace was announced on Friday evening, in a deal that is worth double their previous record fee.
talkSPORT understands that Cacace has joined Wrexham from Italian side Empoli for a total package of around £4million.
Sam Smith was the club’s old record transfer following his £2m move from Reading in January.
But the arrival of the New Zealand international defender has now blown that out of the water.
Wrexham had already brought in striker Ryan Hardie from Plymouth and ex-Leicester and Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward.
Cacace has now taken their number of summer signings up to three, with more spending expected from Reynolds and co.
Speaking after he was confirmed to have joined the club, the left-back said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign for this historic Club, and I just can’t wait to get started.
“Looking from the outside, what they are creating here is something I want to be part of.
“The family they have here – it’s a tight-knit Club and that enticed me.
“I had a great phone call with the manager, and after that I really wanted to sign.”

And he said after the signing was complete: “We are delighted to welcome Libby to Wrexham and look forward to integrating him with the squad on our return home.”
The 24-year-old joins Wrexham from Empoli, who were relegated from Serie A last season.
But the defender starred for the Italian side, playing 76 Serie A games over three campaigns at the club, during which he received a nomination for the Best Men’s FIFA 11 Award.
That nomination came after he captained his national side, New Zealand to the 2024 OFC Men’s Nations Cup title.
He has a total of 33 caps for his country and now brings that experience with him to Wrexham.
A call with manager Parkinson seemed to win the New Zealander overGettyParkinson’s side are currently in Cacace’s home country of New Zealand, facing Wellington Phoenix on Saturday.
In fact, their new left-back was actually born in Wellington and they were the first club he played for in his senior career.
Wrexham’s first game since signing him will come against his old side, as they continue their tour Down Under.
They have already played Australian sides Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC before travelling to New Zealand.
The Red Dragons won their first clash in Melbourne 3-0, but then fell to a 2-1 defeat in Sydney, losing Ollie Rathbone to injury.
Reynolds and McElhenney will hope to continue adding players to the Wrexham squad ahead of their first-ever Championship campaign.
The club have remarkably risen up from non-league to the second tier of English football in just four years.
They made history last season by securing back-to-back-to-back promotions and moving one division away from the Premier League.
