Target will no longer match prices offered by Walmart or Amazon starting July 28, the company said in a statement.
The company is making a change to their Price Match Guarantee policy, eliminating the currently available option to match prices offered by Walmart and Amazon.
However, if a customer purchases an item in a Target store and finds the same item offered at a lesser price on Target.com or with a Target Circle deal, the company will still match that price within 14 days of purchase.
“We found that our guests overwhelmingly price match Target and not other retailers, which reflects the great value and trust in pricing consumers see across our assortment of deals,” a Target spokesperson said.
Some Target consumers took to Reddit to criticize the change. “I’ll just go to the store that has the cheaper prices,” one Reddit user wrote. “There is no way this is something guests want,” wrote another.
