AMERICANS are in line for a share of a massive $4.75million data breach settlement case.
You only need to show a valid receipt in order to qualify for the cash.
The millions are being handed out by a company called Prudent Financial to settle a class action lawsuit.
Claimants allege that the firm failed to prevent a data breach in February 2024 which compromised sensitive client information.
It is said that details such as names, birth dates, account numbers, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses were leaked in the breach.
Plaintiffs claim that Prudent Financial failed to protect his information with the necessary cybersecurity measures.
This failure is said to have led to financial losses.
Prudent Financial is a financial services company that offers life insurance, retirement benefits and investment services, amongst other things.
The company has not admitted any wrongdoing in the case – choosing instead to settle out of court with these financial payments.
Under the terms of the settlement, each claimant can receive a cash payment.
These vary depending on the type of claim they submit.
Class members who experience losses as a result of the breach can claim up to $5,000 in recompense.
Within this category is losses resulting from credit-related expenses, ID replacement costs and identity theft or fraud.
Anyone whose Social Security numbers of tax identification numbers were compromised can receive an impact payment of between $200 and $599.
And if your driver’s license, passport, credit card information or health data was leaked, you can receive between $100 and $599.
Class members who do not qualify for any of the above payments can instead receive a cash payment from the settlement fund – the size of which will depend on the number of members.
To benefit from this settlement, class members must submit a valid claim for by October 3, 2025.
Meanwhile, Americans have just days left to cash in on another settlement payment from a popular variety chain.
The money is being handed out by Family Dollar to settle claims that its coffee products were deceptively marketed.
Family Dollar is a discount retailer that mainly sells groceries, household supplies and personal care products.
The settlement benefits people who bought any Family Dollar proprietary brand ground coffee products – including Chestnut Hill coffee products – between January 1, 2019, and April 15, 2025.
