ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Golisano Children’s Hospital celebrated a major milestone Thursday.
On Thursday, it marked ten years since the opening of its dedicated pediatric tower, which serves more than 85,000 children each year.
“I remember as the ribbon was cut, and the confetti flew, and the parade of children came across the front, thinking what an incredible gift this dedicated children’s hospital would be for our community,” said Kim Winter at the celebration, a parent whose son has been a patient at the hospital since 2012.
Tom Golisano made the tower possible through a $20 million gift.
“Tom Golisano saw an opportunity to transform the future of pediatric care,” said Winter. “And through his incredible gift, and those of other generous donors, will continue to greatly enhance the ability to give the best possible care to our youngest patients.”
Tom Golisano also spoke at the celebration, claiming most people give him too much credit.
“I help build the building,” said Golisano. “But its the doctors, nurses, the food service, the janitorial, the maintenance people, they’re the ones that make this place. And I’ll tell ya, it is a place.”
