Actress and singer Mandy Moore shared that she would like to play her The Princess Diaries character, Lana Thomas, again.
During an appearance on the July 17 episode of Kylie Kelce's podcast Not Gonna Lie, Moore noted that The Princess Diaries 3 is currently in the works. According to Moore, she heard "months ago" that "there was maybe an idea for [her] character to make a cameo" for the upcoming film.
"I haven't heard anything since, so who knows," continued Moore during the interview. "But I would be game."
She then shared she would like Lana to show she has changed for the better in a future Princess Diaries film. As fans are aware, the cheerleader constantly bullied Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) in the first Princess Diaries movie, which premiered in 2001. Lana did not make an appearance in the second Princess Diaries movie.
"I'd love some sort of redemptive storyline. Like maybe my character is working with an animal rescue or something. Like she's come around and she's actually a good person and she peaked in high school ... That's what I'm hoping for if I return," said Moore during the podcast interview.
Moore also explained why it feels "strange" to know she filmed The Princess Diaries 25 years ago.
"It feels like that was a different person who lived then, but in other ways it feels like it was just yesterday," said Moore to Kelce.
While speaking to Kelce, Moore briefly spoke about the look she wore to the Princess Diaries premiere in 2001. For the event, Moore opted to wear a denim suit with low-rise pants, a sheer black top, and white high-heeled shoes.
"I guess I was going for like business casual as a 16 year old," quipped Moore. "Like it was terrible."
The 41-year-old suggested she regretted her Princess Diaries premiere look in an August 2024 interview with Us Weekly. She noted that she posed with Hathaway, who was wearing a purple gown, at the event.
"[Hathaway] looks like a movie star. I'm in this really weird acid wash denim suit. This low-rise situation, oof, it's a trend I know is back with all the kids, definitely not my cup of tea," said Moore in the Us Weekly interview. "I guess, I rocked it at 16. But just compared to her, where she looks like a full movie star and this Audrey Hepburn dress and this necklace. We just look like we are going to very different events."
